Vampires. Lycans. Two races always in conflict, born of an eternal struggle to maintain dominance. It always seems that no matter who wins a battle, even a war, the other race wins the next, alternating victories, the tide of battle continually even. It seemed clear, that if this war continued, both tribes would be destroyed. The ancients of each race saw this, and decided to create a treaty, a last ditch effort at peace. Many creatures of both civilizations objected, finding this venture to be a ludicrous concept. The peace is spread thin. The lull of battle will end soon, bringing a standstill to the agreement. Anything could tip the scales and plunge their worlds into chaos. Werewolves, born of the moon, feral beings. Vampires, formed from darkness, hemophageous creatures, lusting for blood. It begins now.

Will Morell sat quietly, looking up at the night sky, watching clouds move by. The moon. It was 3 quarters of the way full. Soon, he would be at his most powerful. He was one of the stronger lycanthropes, being able to change shape at will, and at different levels of power. "Soon. Soon, I'll surpass my father. He will no longer be the Alpha." He spoke to himself softly, clutching his crescent moon pendant. He sat aloft, high in the branch of a tree in a large forest outside of Columbus, Ohio. The wind blew past him easily, sending a slight shiver through his body, blowing his silver locks into his face. He growled softly. To fall in the fight for dominance meant death. It was not something he was eager to do, replacing his father, but it was necessary. Being 18, he had the right to challenge him. They needed change, and fast. He would bring it about, hopefully ending this war with their vampire counterparts. He looked down with his sharp golden eyes as two of his tribe ran past. He growled softly, and they looked up, growling in return. It was not a threat, merely a greeting. He jumped down, heading towards the den, preparing for his encounter.

Aleyia stood with tilted head in front of her father. He was furious. Aleyia had ignored his warning and traveled outside the Coven walls to seek information on which her father had forbid. Chocolate locks fell in waves around her face as she stood their silently, her gaze on the floor. She knew better than to conjure the fury of her father. There was nothing for her to do but to listen to the harsh teachings of her father.

Once she had finished, she lifted her head for her Veridian eyes to meet the gaze of a loving father. Though her father had found fault in her actions he still loved his daughter undoubtedly. He took a step closer and embraced her tight, placing a soft kiss on the smooth skin of her forehead. His thumb slide slowly down her cheek as he nodded to his House guard to escort Aleyia back to her room.

Being a 19 year old girl, she was anxious to explore and learn about the world outside the walls. To venture into the cities and see the evils which her father denounced for herself. Her hand gripped tightly the hilt of her gun though she made no attempt to struggle. She merely walked. She stepped through the archway and in to her room, unstrapping the gun sheath from her thigh and laying it down upon her dresser. She stepped out into the balcony, looking up to the almost full moon. There were two House Guards stationed just below her balcony, most likely the doings of her overprotective father. She sighed and plopped down upon her bed, closing her lids softly, contemplating her next escape attempt.

He marched alongside the two werewolves, making practically no noise except the occasional soft crunch of a leaf underneath their feet. One was his friend, the other a regular guard. As always, Will was in the center, being "guarded" on either side. On his right was his friend, Sage and on his left was the guard, Lyon. Sage, once again, was chattering nonstop, always desultory. His mouth finally slowed to speaking of something relevant. "So do you think you stand a chance against your dad?" Will didn't even bother looking at him when repsonding.

"I will win. I'll make sure of it. I don't relish killing him, but I'll do what I must for the good of our clan. I am not as weak as he thinks," he replied confidently.

Lyon interjected curtly, being a big supporter of Will's father. "Do not overestimate your father either, young pup." Will growled maliciously at the word "pup". He was no longer a child. He looked ahead and saw the small fire signaling to nearing of their den.

He grinned wickedly. "We shall see."

Ki howled her joy to the nearly full moon as she spread her strides further, racing across the almost deserted lands as she headed north through eastern Kentucky. She loved this, lived for the feel of wind through her fur. The wild and free feeling of pushing herself till her muscles burned and her eyes stung from the wind rushing past her, claws digging into the soft earth for purchase and speed.

She might have been Lycanthrope but she was pure wolf at heart, first and foremost. She had long ago lost most of her human nature. Her human was named Ki, like her, because she had forgotten that name. It meant little to her. Her age in human years was around 17. In her preferred form, that of her Wolf, her fur was sleek and dark grey to the point of nearly being black and her eyes were tawny more than gold.

She crouched low to the ground as she ran, crossing the border into southern Ohio. She knew it was dangerous for her as a young wolf, especially alone as she was, since she could smell pack scents. This was another's territory. She wouldn't be here long though... and she was sure she could dodge them. After all... she'd been a lone wolf for a while now. Just then a snarl behind her made her speed up with a loud growl... that vampire that had chased her out of her home in Georgia and caught up with her again... Great...

Will went down hard. Dust and dirt arose as his body slammed into the ground. The battle with his father had started off slowly, strategically, searching for openings and attacking warily. But now, it was all out slaughter. The two combatants now attacked each other heedlessly and relentlessly, throwing away strategy and caution. Will and his father, Latov, were now both fully transformed into their humanoid wolf forms, holding nothing back. Will was now down, pinned by his dad, whose jaws were clamped around his neck, drawing glistening blood. He felt his blood run out of his jugular, staining his pristine silver coat. He growled and snapped at his opponent, slashing at his chest, kicking his dad's stomach. No matter how much he clawed his pitch black fur, no matter how much he made him bleed, his father refused to let go. Will's moon pendant glowed faintly, then the aura flared to life. A great energy filled his body, his eyes glowing. He released that energy in an ear shattering roar, the great sound and energy making the air ripple. The sheer force of it blew his father off of him, singing his fur from its power, sending him flying into a rock. This was Will's talent. The ability to harness the very core and power of the moon itself, creating blasts of energy, debilitating howls, and other such things. He lunged at his rival, tearing open his chest with his wickedly sharp claws. As his dad howled in pain, he slipped behind him, grabbing his fathers neck, hoping to snap it in both directions. So very close to the kill....

Ki entered the trees in an attempt to dodge the vampire, more annoyed than its repeated attempts than anything else. Before she had gotten far though the vampire leapt and sent the two of them sliding across the leaves to slam into the base of a large tree. Ki thrashed around in disorientation as the older vampire leapt to his feet with a fanged grin. He stooped and grabbed her back legs, jerking her around and throwing her into another tree that she hit with a surprised yelp. When she landed she quickly regained her feet, spinning to meet her attacker's next rush. He moved to slash at her with a small bloodstained dagger and she latched onto his wrist, bone being heard snapping at the force in her Wolf's jaws. It hissed and grabbed her by the scruff of her neck, tossing her aside. However it didn't anticipate that she would hang on to his arm, thus he was dragged forcefully with her. Her breath left her on a soft whine as the larger creature landed across her ribcage. She squirmed as he tried to recover, his blood spilling from his wrist and the gash on his head where he hit. It triggered her lust for blood, built neatly into her nature. She howled and wrenched out from under him, spinning and leaping on him to rip his stomach open with her fangs viciously. The vampire screamed and his flailing arms knocked her free of him, her head smacking another tree just so as to knock her out. The last thing Ki saw as conciousness faded from her Wolf was the vampire stumbling to his feet, collapsing, and lying still and fully dead as he bled out. She gave a weak snarl of satisfaction before lying still and blacking out, not realizing fully that the pack would smell the spilled blood on their territory.

Will took firm hold of his father's head and twisted sharply to the left, hearing bone and vertebrae snap sickeningly. But before he could administer the killed twist, his father somehow managed to wriggle free from his grasp. But it was all for naught. He was free of Will's grasp, but his desperate escape only succeeded in leaving him helpless on the ground, paralyzed from the neck break. He could only move his mouth and blink his eyes. Will looked down at his defeated father sorrowfully. "I am sorry, father."

His father at first only managed a warped snarl, but then managed to say one last sentence. "Don't be, for I am proud of you." His breathing was ragged and exhausted.

Will struck swiftly and assuredly, making sure his father felt nothing more, stabbing clean through his jugular, blood spraying everywhere. Almost immediately after that final moment, the crowd of his fellow wolves fell silent, no longer cheering or jeering. They all merely bowed in respect howling mournfully for their defeated leader. Even his older sister, Andrea, honored him. Moments later, they all rushed him as he turned human once again, clapping him on the shoulders, while Andrea and a few others took the time to bury his father. But, the celebration was cut short as the scent of another's blood invaded his nostrils. He held up a hand, signaling for silence. "Hold, my friends. We have an unwelcome intruder." He knew that smell. The blood of a vampire. This would not bode well for the teetering peace of the two races. And, yet another scent. A young wolf, one not native to this territory. That would be dealt with as well. He and the rest of the pack raced through the forest, until he came upon the unconcious lycanthrope and the dead vampire. "Well then. What do we have here?"

Ki stirred slightly, waking to the vaguely sound of steps approaching. Many people, too many for her to handle on a good day. She struggled past the throbbing in her head that left her nauseous and tried to stay concious in case anything attacked her. Obviously the gutted vampire would not be one of them. She blinked repeatedly, panting for breath after the exertion of the fight with the stronger creature. She couldn't see how many were there but the one in lead, the one who scented of power, had blood on him. She knew he was the leader. She forced herself to her feet with a huff of annoyance and pure stubbornness as they entered the small clearing. She focused on them and backed away a few steps dizzily. She growled softly in defensiveness but kept her head lowered in respect to the leader. She was on their territory, had drawn another's blood on their territory... even though the vampire had attacked her first and was not native here either. Her tawny eyes cleared as she shook her head, ears laid back nervously against her blood-clotted fur, and she focused on them as she took another step back a bit more steadily.

Will noticed the wolf was a female, not much younger than himself. He shifted quickly into his wolfen shape, stepping forward gingerly, sniffing around her for identification. He was sympathetic, for she was a young one, and it was clear to him by her heartbeat and the vampire's scent that niether the vampire nor her were native to this territory. He doubted she had been the one to cause the struggle in the first place as well. He took on his human form once again, making a sign for his pack mates not to harm her. He studied the dead vampire. It had bled out. He looked at the young she-wolf. She was cut in several places and bruised and battered too. He wished to speak to her more formally, so he requested her to change. "Please, take on your human form, so that you may explain yourself." his voice was stern now, already showing his colors as a born leader.

She shook herself out slightly just managing to avoid a whine of disappointment that she had to leave her favoured form. She closed her eyes and concentrated, shifting back into her human form. Ki rarely did so but managed it without hesitation. She straightened to about a 5'4 height, her silvery hair tangled and blood-matted down to mid back, and her jeans and tank-top torn and bloody, dirty from her week long run from Georgia. She opened her eyes when she was steady again, her head tilting in a decidedly wolf-ish manner as her tawny eyes narrowed and fixed on him nervously. She might be a predator, but he was a predator with backup and this was his home. She paused, unsure of how to act or speak to this Alpha. It had been so long since she had been around anyone else, let alone an Alpha wolf.

Will observed the girl. He was quite a bit taller than her, a good 6'1. He motioned for his den members to make their way back to their home. He wished to speak alone with this newcomer. As they left, he went in a different direction, clutching her shoulder, leading her along with him. As he walked he proceeded to lick the blood off of his visage, some his newly deceased father's, some his. He looked down at the nervous girl, wondering why she was here in the first place. "So then, why are you here?" His tone was powerful, demanding an answer. He fixed his torn jacket and pants, though he remained bare chested aside from that.

She frowned slightly, eyeing him cautiously and cringing away from his hand just ever so slightly. She didn't mind it so much... she just wasn't used to it at all. She sighed, her eyes darting around the surroundings as she contemplated her answer. When she finally did speak her voice was hoarse from not using it often, but was lyrical with a distinct deep Southern accent, mellow and smooth. "I lived in Georgia. Outside Savannah. Alone. I never had a pack." She paused, thinking again as if formulating her words into English was difficult. "A Coven moved in onto my territory. They wouldn't stand for a flea-bitten mongrel on 'their' lands. They chased me out." Her words slid off into a furious growl at the thought. "At least... tried to. For two years. Finally that old man right there came out saying he'd finished the job. He chased me here all the way from Savannah. I was heading for the Canada border. There's a forest sanctuary set aside that vampires cannot pass onto. I didn't make it. He caught me." She finished simply enough, if a bit abruptly, her wolven eyes fixing steadily back onto him.

He sighed. It was understandable that a Coven of vampires would not wish for a werewolf to have a home in their territory. It was their right, for no entire pack inhabited it. His topaz eyes roved the forest as they walked. He looked back at the girl. He was about to make a snap-gut decision. He knew his packs wouldn't like it, especially as his first act as the new Alpha. But, they would have to, because his word was law, and this girl was of the same race, with the same rights. "If you no longer have a home, you should come with us. Stay in our pack. We will welcome you gratefully. If anybody doesn not wish you here, I will deal with it." He paused, looking up and down her figure, wondering if she was fit for battle. "But, you will have to prove yourself first."

If Ki had been in her true form her ears would have gone straight up in surprise. As it was, her eyes widened just slightly and she blinked repeatedly. She paused in mid step to stare at him silently, dumbfounded. She quickly regained her composure however, immediately coming back into step just behind him and to his left. Ki remained quietly, mulling over his proposal. "Fine." she said softly, her expression nearly unreadable. The only reason she had finally accepted the offer was that he had told her she would have to fight for it. It was a challenge, a chance to prove herself, and also she was intensely curious. Having never been part of a pack before, this would be entirely new to the lone she-wolf. She stuffed her hands in her pockets, adding, "I'll do it." She glanced away from him to look around the trees warily again, though her attention upon him wavered not once.

Will stood with his back to her. "Good. I'm glad you're up to the test. Though, I would truly appreciate it if you didn't fail. I've given you the benefit of the doubt, and if you don't pull through, my judgement will be questioned." He turned to face her now, taking into account at how she looked at him. "Also, I noticed you seem to prefer your wolf guise. If you no longer wish to remain in human form, you may change. We are done speaking for now." At that, he turned into a silver coated wolf, now padding in the direction of the den.

Her eyes narrowed and her lips pulled back in a slight snarl of irritation as he walked away. This might be harder than she thought... the tone he took with her raised her hackles, made her defensive. It would be a challenging task getting used to having to follow an Alpha when she had been alone and made her own decisions for so long. She watched him walking away, calming herself down against her first instinct to lunge. He doubted her abilities when she had lasted so long taking care of herself? He thought that she might fail and bring disgrace from the pack on his shoulders? She would show him how wrong he was in such an assumption. She sighed and reverted back to her wolven, her true form. She shook her fur out with a fanged grin. Let them throw anything at her... she'd surpass them all. She calmly walked off after the new Alpha, tawny eyes fully feral and glittering in amusement.

He let her catch up to him, padding along steadily back to his home. He noticed she was still bloodied and cut in different areas, so he gently licked and cleaned them out for her. He was confident she would be able to pass the test, as she had been able to survive for so long all by her lonesome. But, he would not tolerate any disrespect whatsoever. It would show weakness, which he could not allow. They finally entered the gathering area, as his people trotted up to greet them. They sniffed and keened at him eagerly, but warily and untrustingly to this newcomer. He regained human shape, announcing to all of the pack. "This girl wishes to become a part of our glorious society. I have decided to give her the benefit of the doubt, giving her a chance to prove herself in a battle of wits and physical strength. If she succeeds, she shall become one of us." Many decided to go along with his decision, offering shouts of support, though he heard a few disapprove. In response he gave harsh warning snarls and the crowd grew quiet.

She edged into the clearing, staying in wolf form unlike him. Pressing close to the ground she eyed the new wolves warily. Since she had no idea who they were she had no trust for them, but she could tell the Alpha held firm control. She listened attentively, her dark ears tilting forward to focus in on the Alpha and his speech. She kept quiet and still, her eyes darting between each member of the pack, narrowing as she noticed the dissenters. She would have to keep a close eye on them... a very close eye indeed. She finally just lay down, her sleek body tense, waiting to hear what her trials would be.

As soon as they had all settled down he began to speak again. "The task is truly quite simple. All she must do, is best three of our warriors in battle, all at once. It is not as easy as it sounds, for we are not to be underestimated." He looked down at the resting girl. "Your opponents shall be Sage, Lyon, and Kage." The three he spoke of quickly stepped up. Sage was as excited as ever. Lyon looked at Will with obvious disapproval. Kage simply stood there silently, indifferent to the situation, an expression never daring to cross his face. He whistled, and all the other wolves parted aside from himself and the girl. The three ready opponents waited for a command. Will went off to the side, simply stating "Start."

Ki crouched down with a wild but quiet snarl, her eyes fixing on each of them with a challenge. If they did manage to take her down... it would not be without casualties... she woud be sure of that. The dark fur on her ruff and hackles rose, still sticky with some blood he hadn't managed to get out of the matts in her pelt. She laid her ears back, a growl of mocking issuing from between her bared fangs. Ki would let them make the first move. She would watch to see how co-ordinated they were, their strengths, and their weaknesses. And she was fully prepared to use them all against them and to fight dirty than these 'city wolves' had ever seen.

Sage transformed into a dark brown wolf, skirting around the young girl, then lunging from her left flank.
Lyon transformed halfway, muscles growing, still in a humanoid form, but with claws and fangs, little fur growing over his body. He leapt at the girl from the right flank, aiming to stab and slash with his hands, hoping to end it quickly. Kage simply stood, motionless, a well concieved strategist, waiting for her move. Will watched, wondering how she would react.

The slim, smaller she-wolf darted back. She stayed low to the ground. This way instead of hitting her the first two wolves would crash into each other, unable to halt their moment. At least... that's what she hoped would happen. Tawny eyes narrowed she spun lightly on her feet to face the third wolf. Over the last two years road expansion and hunting licenses had made her proficient at dodging things of a large and small size. Her ears quivered as she focused all her attention on the last wolf. Even if her dodge hadn't taken the two wolves down for a while then they would at least have to take time to get untangled from each other.

Sage and Lyon collided, head on. There was a loud crack as Sage's head impacted against Lyon's. They both fell to the ground. Sage had been knocked out cold from the collision, a small trail of blood trickling from the top of his skull. Lyon, however, was made of tougher stuff, merely rubbing his now bruised head. Unfortunately, he was tangled up with the now unconcious Sage, who slumped ontop of him, and would take a bit of effort to free himself. Kage stared down the slim she-wolf, his cold gaze continually lingering on her. His face remained blank as she focused on him. He took a step forward, slowly moving into his wolf state.

She moved in almost a half circle away from the two fallen lycanthropes, her eyes fixed on the third. This one Ki knew was dangerous, he worried her. The other two had been whelps, puppies. She had known they would go down fast. This one was a predator like herself however, and she knew from the way he moved and held himself that she would actually have to fight this one. Her ears laid back against her skull and she crouched lower to the ground, watching the male closely as he approached. She didn’t waste breath on any warnings.
